you-are-an-overcomer

Do you feel stuck? On the verge of defeat? Overwhelmed?

God’s way is better.

God’s plan for you is to overcome.

To overcome is to conquer. To defeat. To prevail. To overcome is to soar. To fly above the present circumstances.

It was a word long before Mandisa turned it into a song. And it’s a word for you today.

I’d like to give you 4 ways to be an Overcomer no matter what obstacle or difficulty you’re facing today:

#1 You’re an Overcomer Through God’s Word in You

Are you in God’s word? Do you know it? Do you read it? Are you abiding in it? If you want to be an overcomer, listen to 1 John 2:2 “I write to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God abides in you.” God’s word is the secret to overcoming. Get into it.

#2 You’re an Overcomer Through your Faith

Remember 1 John 5:4? “And this is the victory that has overcome the world – our faith.” Nothing can stand against your faith in God. You might feel like your faith is small today but remember that it’s not the size of your faith but the size of your God that matters. He’s the God who rose from the dead and conquered death and the grave. Faith is your shield against the onslaught of the enemy. Now use it.

#3 You’re an Overcomer Through God’s Love for you

I love Romans 8 but especially verse 37: “No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.” Are you facing tribulation, or distress? Persecution or famine? Nakedness or danger or sword? Ok, it might not be that dramatic, but no matter what it is that threatens to steal your stability, you can’t be shaken when Gods love is your foundation. Rest in it

#4 You’re an Overcomer Through the Power of your Mind

I’m not talking about positive mental thinking here. I’m talking about the power of your mind when Christ controls it. I’m talking about renewing your mind and fixing it on the truth. I’m talking about 2 Corinthians 10:4-5 and taking every single small thought captive to obey Christ. That’s how the battle is won. That’s how you overcome. You stop every small lie and replace it with God’s truth about you.

And that’s when you’ll see: you’re an overcomer in Christ.

That’s who you are. That’s God’s plan for you.

That’s your destiny. Now live like it, won’t you?
